Internships - Walnut

Intern programme.

Our internships could be seen as a ‘taster’ for what a career in market research really looks like. We invite people who have finished their degree and those who are part-way through it. We also welcome applicants who have chosen not to take a degree at all.

Our internships are flexible between 4- 12 weeks depending on the applicant’s preference and our business need. You will gain hands-on experience of delivering projects to a high standard and on time; providing you with a strong foundation to develop your career in market research.

Tasks may cover all stages of the project cycle: from planning, developing questionnaires, monitoring fieldwork, then analysing data and feeding into reports.

In addition to lots of hands on experience, we’ll support you by:

Providing inductions and training on the foundations of market research, as well as ongoing feedback throughout your internship.

Allocating you a dedicated line manager to support your development during your time with us.

Offering you a one-on-one career development session towards the end of your internship, providing advice on your CV, interviewing skills, and your next steps into the industry should you require it.

As it’s so tricky to tell you what your internship will actually involve, it’s probably best to leave it to these previous interns (who have now joined our Academy) to tell you what they think you should know about our internships.

Our current intern programme is currently closed to new applications but feel free to click on their photos below for more information.

When I was looking for an internship last year I was keen to get real business experience, getting stuck into the day-to-day working of a company, rather than doing menial tasks or admin as can often be the case. Walnut more than exceeded my expectations in this regard as I was involved in many projects, across sectors and methodologies from the get-go, and was trained and guided supportively throughout the internship. My line manager ensured that my workload was engaging and varied, and I felt like every contribution I made was appreciated. This, along with the brilliant company culture, and interesting work were the reasons that I was keen to stay on at Walnut after the internship, and I am now on the Academy Programme!

Following a year of travel after my degree I was looking for an internship that gave me a variety of opportunities. My three months as an intern at Walnut did not disappoint on this. From my very first week I felt welcomed into the team. As a new project was commissioned I was actively involved at the outset; from joining client calls to setting up reports. This gave me insight into an end-to-end project, and it was great to see my work recognised. I felt Walnut invested in me; giving me the necessary training and support, as well as the responsibility to make a real contribution to their work.
